This impressive seaside architectural home ticks all the boxes, while making the most of extraordinary views. The decision to build on the hill in the wake of the earthquakes wasn’t an easy one, but both Catherine and Jan agree it was worth it. “We walked around the section and looked at the view so many times. We wanted the lounge and the living area to look right down on the beach.” The Benchmark Homes consultant’s solution was to design the home in the shape of a T , with the living areas on the long part of the T facing out to the view and the bedrooms at the ‘top’, allowing the master to enjoy sea views as well as hill views.
